How To Rehydrate Weed

How to rehydrate weed? Do I need to rehydrate my weed? If these are your questions, well you came to the right place, we will look at all of these things from an objective standpoint and help you come up with some solutions to make your growing experience better and more informed. So, let us dive right in.

Why Should You Rehydrate Weed?

If you are a grower, you would know that cannabis plants at the time of harvesting are ripe with moisture content. In fact, the moisture content of freshly harvested cannabis is so high that growers have to go through an extensive process of drying and curing the weed. This helps control the moisture content and makes it easier to consume.

The most widely employed drying method includes hanging out the cannabis buds to dry. Preferably, you must hang these plants upside down in a dark and well-ventilated room with a temperature of 65 degrees Fahrenheit and 50% humidity. You need to store the buds for at least 14 days or two weeks to dry out the cannabis and prevent weird aromas from taking over the flavor profile.

Similar to dehydrating, rehydrating is an important process as well. If your cannabis becomes too dry, it will lose its overall potency and flavor profile. So, if you are a grower who wants to improve the quality of your crop, then you need to understand the balance. If your cannabis has too much moisture content, it will be more prone to mold buildup. But, if it is too dry, then the cannabis can go absolutely bland.

Signs That You Need To Know In Order To Rehydrate Weed?

Growing cannabis is a challenging yet rewarding task. If you do everything right, you can be rewarded handsomely by the overall produce. But if you lose a step, you will end up harvesting disappointment. So, understanding how to keep your cannabis fresh is something that will definitely help you be better at growing. This section will deal with some of the most common signs that your cannabis needs rehydration. This will answer a crucial question of how to rehydrate weed discussion.

The foremost sign that your cannabis rehydration is a noticeable loss of aroma and flavor profile. If your cannabis is too dry, the bud will not have the strong iconic smell that it should have. This is because the terpenes that reside in the moisture content of cannabis have dried up. In order to keep your weed fresh and rejuvenate the flavor profile, you need to rehydrate the cannabis.

Another important sign of dry cannabis is the general loss of potency. Sources suggest that cannabinoids dry up if you let them interact with oxygen for an extended period of time. So, do not keep your weed exposed to the elements if you want to maintain its overall potency and strength.

The final sign is the feeling of cannabis while consuming it. If you have been a cannabis connoisseur like me, I think you have come across strains that are particularly hard to hit. The smoke feels harsher and corrosive. If your cannabis is really bothering your pulmonary system, then this means that your cannabis has dried up and that you need to rehydrate it. But how? Well, for that piece of information, refer to the next section of our Keeping Your Cannabis Fresh: How To Rehydrate Weed.

How To Rehydrate Your Cannabis?

Now that you know your weed needs to be rehydrated from time to time, I think I should also list some of the ways that you can go about the way of rehydrating your cannabis harvest. So, these are some of the easiest ways to rehydrate your dry cannabis.

Fruit Peel

The foremost method that you need to know is popularly called the fruit peel method. In this method, what you need to do is take some freshly peeled peels of orange or any other citrus fruit and place the peel into your cannabis jar.

Citrus peels are moist and have a distinctive flavor profile. As a result, the peel transfers its moisture content and aromas to the strain itself. Now, if you have a citrusy dominant strain like Tangie, or Super Silver Haze, this will beautifully complement their inherent flavor profile. However, do not be a genius and leave the peel in your jar. Try removing it after a while to keep your strain from getting too moist, which can increase the chance of mold buildup.

Hot Vapor

Hot vapor is another very prominent and effective method that you can employ to keep your cannabis from getting too dry. But before we even proceed, we would like to present some words for disclaimer. Hot vapor is a double-edged sword. Why? This method is quick and efficient. But it also provides a very narrow margin for error. This means you can easily overcook your bud or render it soggy to consume.

Take a big glass bowl, by bowl, I do not mean bong. Take a glass bowl full of boiling hot water. Cover the mouth of the bowl with two layers of fabric. These layers will work as filters for the rising vapor. Now take some of your cannabis and place it over the fabric. Let the vapors seep into the bud and make it well-hydrated. However, be sure to keep turning your bud from time to time. Otherwise, one side of the bus will be more cooked than the other side.

Keep cooking your bud for some time but do not cross the 15-minute mark. I mean, if you overcook your cannabis, you run the risk of rendering the bud useless. So, moderation is the key.
