Myths about CBD

There are many CBDs that you can enjoy, but let us not get into the specificities of it. In the article, I will be debunking some of the myths that revolve around CBD.

If you have been following cbdmagazine.net, you probably already know that we are keen supporters of the many medical benefits that CBD provides. First, let me make it very clear that CBD is different from marijuana that you smoked back in your college days, even though they are both derived from the same plant.

But the ingredients are a whole lot different. I am a keen advocate of the CBD industry, and I have been keeping a close watch on all its products for the past five years. And one thing I can assure you is that the pros of consuming CBD outweigh the cons. In this article, I will be debunking some of the myths about CBD.

CBD: Explained

Consuming CBD has been made legal in most states in the U.S. It has been made legal because it can be used to treat many mental and physical health issues. But before we begin, let us first try to understand what CBD is and how it is derived since many of you reading this article may be hearing this word for the first time.

CBD stands for Cannabidiol, and it is one of the main compounds of the Cannabis Sativa plant amongst the 80 other chemicals. It is more popularly known as weed or marijuana amongst millennials. Marijuana contains THC, which is responsible for giving you the ‘high’; on the other hand, CBD is refined and obtained from the hemp plant, which contains very little to no THC amounts.

When you consume any CBD product, it first hits your brain. It calms you down and relaxes the muscles of your body. Researchers are still trying to find out the exact effects of CBD on the brain.

According to experts, it causes temporary ‘brain damage.’ CBD prevents the breakdown of the chemical, which is responsible for changing the mood, pain, and mental state. Therefore when you consume any CBD product, it relaxes your nerves, but unlike THC, it does not alter your mood or make you high or paranoid, or psychotic.

Top 10 Myths About CBD In 2021

CBD

There are about 100 myths about CBD, but for the sake of convenience, I am going to list only the top 10 myths about CBD in 2021.

1. CBD Will Get You High

I have already mentioned it, CBD and THC are both different. CBD is non-psychoactive, so it will not get you high. CBD will just make you feel a little relaxed and sleepy, but it will not make you high or psychotic, or paranoid. Some people report that they feel uplifted; it has mostly been referred to as ‘body high’ by most smokers. But the reality is CBD hits your serotonin receptors, whereas THC hits your dopamine receptors.

2. CBD Is All Good; Weed Is All Bad

It is important to note that even though CBD is a whole lot better than THC, it might still be just as addictive as THC. It can damage your lungs. SMoking CBD is equivalent to smoking ten cigarettes at the same time.

Even though medical experts prefer CBD to THC but THC has its own set of benefits. For instance, THC is given to cancer patients to deal with pain and nausea. It is also used to create an appetite.

3. CBD Is Not Legal

CBD is very much legal in most states in the U.S. THC is illegal, and consuming THC for recreational purposes can land you in jail. The hemp plant is responsible for producing over 100 chemicals, and among those, CBD and THC are the most popular ones.

4. CBD Has A High Concentration Of THC

THC has psychoactive components in it, and therefore it gets you high, and that is exactly why it is illegal. On the other hand, the percentage of THC in CBD is below 1%, which makes CBD legal, and furthermore, CBD is used for making a lot of mainstream products like CBD Oil, CBD cigarettes, and Coconut Oil.

5. Immediate Effects Of CBD

Unlike THC, CBD takes time to show actions. For THC, it takes about a minute for the body to start reacting, whereas CBD acts more like a Vitamin supplement. It is time for CBD products to show the effects.

A lot of it also depends on how you are consuming the CBD product. If you are smoking a CBD joint, the effects will show quicker, whereas if you are taking a CBD tablet, it will take time.

6. CBD Is Expensive

CBD Is Expensive

It’s the most common myth I have heard, and I would personally like to debunk it. CBD products cost just like normal products. Obviously, it is a little expensive since CBD is legal, and the Government makes earnings from the revenue.

7. CBD Cures Everything

This is one of the best myths about CBD. No CBD does not cure all the ailments. It is mainly sold as a dietary supplement to calm the nerves of the patients. Of course, there are a lot of other things that other medicines can cure and not just CBD. Research is still in progress, and still, there are a lot of things to discover about CBD.

8. CBD Is Illegal Outside America

This, too, makes me laugh as CBD is more commonly used in the European Union nations. In fact, Netherlands is considered to be the hub of the CBD. These are some of the best myths about CBD.

9. CBD Will Make You Intelligent

It is one of those funny myths about CBD. CBD will improve your mental health and keep you happy, but it will not make you more smart or intelligent.

10. CBD Makes You Paranoid

CBD does not contain any psychoactive substance, so it will not make you paranoid. THC affects your brain and makes you paranoid due to the excessive release of dopamine in your brain.

Final Thoughts

There you go, those were some of the myths about CBD. The healthcare industry has found out that CBD indeed has a lot of health benefits. Apart from treating cancer, it is also used to treat seizures and multiple sclerosis.
